4 Money-Smart Ways to Spend During This Pandemic Season

Have you adjusted to the financial uncertainty this pandemic outbreak has caused? How smart do you handle new challenges that could strain your finances?

As coronavirus continues to spread, we have come across issues with economic uncertainty and a high unemployment rate that has challenged our financial stability without warning. In this case, your budget could be different from usual and this could mean that you have to cut back or cut out certain expenses just to stay afloat. So here are 5 simple tips that might help you spend strategically to save money and keep your finances in good health.

Buying in Bulk

How much do you really save when you buy in bulk? This actually depends on the amount you need. Stockpiling is not always a smart move to save up money, but when it is something that you and your family use every day, it can be a wise financial decision. And it is smart to stockpile non-perishable goods of food and toiletries. Before you go shopping though, always remember to plan out your grocery budget first and watch out for buying things in bulk that you do not intend to purchase in the first place. Just because it looks like a good deal, that doesn’t mean it’s a good deal for YOU.

Coupons

Whenever you make an online purchase, always check for any coupon code. Couponing has evolved into the act of looking for deals and steals by searching for promo codes online in order to save a few bucks at checkout. You can seamlessly find coupons whenever you visit the website of your favorite store. Subscribing to their newsletters is another way to keep updated of their weekly or monthly deals and special sales. Find coupons on sale items that you need most and optimize your savings.

Cashback Apps for Rewards

Although cutting back purchases can ease your financial situation. this won’t stop you from spending for your primary needs. But, saving while spending is possible. Cashback apps allow you to redeem rewards from the products you buy. Upon purchase, cashback apps reward you with a certain percentage from the amount you spent off buying the items. These applications credit you to earn points which you can use to deduct and lessen the total amount of your next purchase. Cash back credit cards are a common example.

Special Sale Days

Take advantage of all the biggest sale days you can think of on the US calendar. These kinds of sales and deals usually surface every year, so you can mark your digital calendar to remind yourself of them annually. Plan these days ahead and get the best deals possible.

Here is a brief list of major sale days you can take note of:

  • New Year’s Day (January 1st)
  • President’s Day (3rd Monday of February)
  • Memorial Day (Last Monday in May)
  • Independence Day (July 4th)
  • Labor Day (1st Monday in September)
  • Columbus Day (1st Monday in October)
  • Black Friday (The day after the 4th Thursday in November)
  • Cyber Monday (The Monday following Black Friday)

In these dire times, you need to be thrifty with your finances to be able to survive until this pandemic is put to an end. So, save your money, stick to your budget, and avoid any extra debt.

Is Your Eye Care Provider Engaging In Unethical Behavior?

Did you know that you are entitled to your prescription information? That’s correct, you are entitled to it just as much as you are entitled to all your other medical records. You paid for it, it’s yours. When ordering glasses from our website, you will need to enter your prescription as well as your PD (Pupillary Distance). Only a few states are required by law to provide you with your PD number, but every state is required to give you your prescription. Below is our advice on how to obtain your prescription information from your eye doctor’s office as well as some useful information you should know when asking for your prescription. When you call your doctor’s office, they may either read you your prescription over the phone or send you a copy of your prescription in the mail. When asking for your prescription information, be sure to ask for your Sphere, Axis & Cylinder (if you have an astigmatism), and your ADD (if you require bifocals). The following is a list of common questions and facts based on 16 CFR Part 456 Ophthalmic Practice Rules. Hand It Over It is a United States Federal Law for your doctor to provide you with your prescription if you have paid for an eye exam. Waivers Some eye care providers may ask you to sign a waiver in order to receive your prescription. This practice is not only unethical, but is also illegal. It is used as a scare tactic in order to make the patient think that they’re doing something wrong. The Phone Call Watch out for some eye care providers who may try to call you in order to try to talk you out of obtaining your prescription information. Some practices will have a doctor call you to try to sell you their glasses or contacts. Is there a limit? You can obtain your prescription anytime you want and as many times as you want. Your eye care provider cannot refuse to release your prescription because they already have done so in the past. You already paid Some eye care providers may attempt to charge you for your prescription. This is another unethical and illegal practice that is used to discourage people from purchasing glasses or contacts from somewhere else. If you have already paid for your eye exam, you have the full right to your prescription under any condition. Can I receive my prescription information over the phone? Yes, you have the right to obtain your prescription information over the phone. Some eye care providers may tell you that you must come in to receive it or have it mailed to you; this is false, and another way for them to delay you from purchasing somewhere else. Does my prescription expire? No, there is no expiration date to your prescription. Overall, it is always best to be educated when talking to your eye care provider about prescription. The more knowledge you have, the more comfortable you will feel when asking for your prescription, and the easier it will be to obtain it. Owned and operated by two eye doctors, we here at 39dollarglasses.com pride ourselves on being informative and knowledgeable on what is ethical and legal. If you want to learn more regarding this matter, here is a link to American Medical Association’s guidelines: http://bit.ly/1Sx3JzQ. 39DollarGlasses.com is currently running an exclusive promo for 20% off your ENTIRE order. Tips for Achieving Your New Year’s Resolutions

The beginning of a new year has always been a time of reflection, looking back at the past, as well as a time for looking towards the future. New Year's is a time to think about the changes we want in our life and to make resolutions to achieve them in the coming year. Whether your resolutions are more practical, such as to lose weight, or to have more fun in your life, such as travelling more, read on. We have put together some tips to achieve three of the most popular resolutions people make year after year. Lose Weight - Get Fit There is no better way of being healthy than to have regular exercise, which can help us to lose weight, increase longevity, reduce blood pressure, enhance our mood and a list of other health benefits. Everyone naturally yearns to feel and look better. Exercise machines are a great way to start because they have the convenience of being in your own home, so that you can use them as often as you like, no matter what the weather is like outside. Treadmills give the simulation of running as you would outdoors. Elliptical trainers allow you to feel as you would walking on stairs and elliptical bikes simulate bike riding. Smooth Fitness has more than 25 years of experience and a good reputation for its exercise equipment. Smooth Fitness also routinely feature coupons if you buy direct from them. In addition to regular exercise, maintaining a good diet is also important. There are many different studies about the type of diets that give the most benefit, but one thing in general is clear: your diet needs to not only be balanced, but you must also limit the number of calories you take in every day. You must train yourself to either eat less or to cut our high-caloric foods, such as fast food. If you follow both of these tips, you'll be well on your way to getting in shape. Travel More Many people resolve to enjoy life more at the beginning of the new year, and a great way to do this is by traveling. Consider skiing or taking in a Broadway show, visiting famous landmarks or taking a scenic cruise. There are limitless possibilities when it comes to travel with different budgets to choose from, whether for local or long-distance travel. Cheap Caribbean makes a lot of deals with Caribbean resorts and hotels, that can help make your dream trip affordable. You can also get creative with your travel plans, you don't have to go the Great Wall of China to have fun. You would even be surprised at the number of travel destinations that are right in your own backyard. Learn Something New New Year's is a great time to learn something new, whether it's a skill, career change or just a way to simplify your everyday life. In addition to reading books and researching online on your own, there are a variety of universities, community colleges, recreation centers, such as the YMCA, art centers and online institutions that offer adults continuing education classes, which usually begin at the start of the semester. There are a wealth of classes that you can explore, such as photography, art, dance, languages and more. Rosetta Stone is a very reputable language learning company and a great place to start if you want to brush up on or start a new language. Make sure to check out these Rosetta Stone deals first. There a variety of other popular new year's resolutions, such as getting out of debt and helping others that remain at the top of many lists, but this offers a glimpse into fulfilling several popular ones. Whatever you decide to make yours this year, try to set realistic goals that you can fulfill and feel a sense of accomplishment from. Set a timeline for yourself and strive to achieve it in steps, so you don't get overwhelmed as time goes by. For example, if you are trying to lose 20 pounds this year, strive to lose 2 pounds a month so you can get easily get ahead of your goal. Whatever you decide to do, stay focused and we wish you a truly great 2013!

Last Minute Holiday Gift Ideas

It's a little more than a week until Christmas, have you finished your online shopping list yet? Monday, December 17th is Free Shipping Day and Tuesday is the last shipping day for many online stores to guarantee Christmas delivery for the cheapest, ground-shipping option. You'll still have options for expedited delivery, but at a greater cost. So, what can you do if you find yourself searching for a gift when shipping is no longer guaranteed at most stores? Consider these three options for last minute gifts that are frequently able to be shipped later and still arrive for Christmas. Creative Gift Certificate Ideas Are you loathe to send a generic gift card or gift certificate to a loved one this year? Consider these more creative options for gift certificates. Spa gift certificates for a local spa treatment, which you can find through SpaFinder, bring about relaxing thoughts. At Xperience Days, you can purchase gift certificates for exciting adventures and experiences, such as a flight lesson, food tour, NASCAR ride, boat tour and more. One last idea is a travel voucher, such as a free flight ticket, hotel stay or resort experience from any number of travel companies. Check out these coupons for travel companies to find one that matches your needs. Jewelry Jewelry stores, such as Zales and Ice.com frequently have a little longer time for items to be guaranteed for Christmas delivery because jewelry items tend to be so small. Plus, even if you do not make the cutoff, the cost of upgrading your shipping time is frequently less also because of the small item sizes. Consider shopping for gift ideas under $250 at Zales.com, in addition to Zales coupons. Necklaces, earrings, bracelets and watches are all great ideas because these don't need to be custom fit like rings do. Gift Baskets and Flowers Gift baskets, gift towers and flowers usually have faster delivery times as well and cheaper options for shipping upgrades. GiftTree.com, a popular gift basket store, also advertises that they only need two days to deliver to most of the USA because of multiple warehouse locations. Don't forget to check out GiftTree's coupons before shopping! Peppermint bark (my favorite), wine baskets and fruit baskets are all unique ideas for Christmas, if you are looking for something different.  For flowers, companies such as 1-800-Flowers are able to offer same-day delivery options, because they are usually arranged and delivered by a local florist working with the company. Don't forget, many stores now also offer free ship-to-store options, so if you want to avoid the hassle of the mall or other big-box stores, consider making your purchase online and picking it up in-store at a convenient kiosk. As Christmas approaches, many online stores will also begin offering free or reduced shipping upgrade coupons. If you are truly stuck at the last-minute, gift certificates are really the only way to go. Make it more personal by printing out the gift certificate and putting it in a card with a special hand-written note to the recipient. Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year savvy shoppers!
